This module focuses on the studies of existing buildings
that informs and expands architectural vocabulary and develop designs concepts.
Students were divided into groups of 4 and an analysis was conducted on a
specific building through drawing, model making written and verbal presentations.
The learning outcomes that I learnt was classify and
exemplify the sequences of historical periods and recognizing appropriate
verbal architectural vocabulary to refer building types, styles and periods.
Our group had chosen Castel Sant’Angelo (Castle of the Holy
Angel), a building of ancient Roman architecture style in Rome, founded by the
Emperor Hadrian.
In the first project, we were to collect and document
information and data on the building into an essay.
The second project, we individually produced a visual presentation board of all the information gathered on Castel Sant’Angelo.
The last project required us to produce a model of the
building out of balsa wood only.
